I could have name quite a few more, like Gremlins, Ghostbuster, Blues Brothers and Beverly Hills Cop. All really good films that i could watch over and over again.

A fantastic list, Lisa, but surely Cocktail has to be in there somewhere! It had the 80s stamped all over it with Tom Cruise at his best, Elisabeth Shue at her sexiest, a great movie poster and the music wasn’t too bad either, even with the Beach Boys in there!
A good list and Cocktail deserves a mention but what about American Gigolo? I started the year wearing my Star Trek shirt and ended the year wearing box suits, pastel colour shirts and thin leather strip ties a la Gere in Gigolo.
A good list but my friends and I love St Elmo’s Fire, Mannequin, The Sure Thing, Footloose and John Hughes’ films including The Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink and Some Kind of Wonderful. Personally I also love The Man With Two Brains, Once Bitten and The Company of Wolves as well. The big movies were great but it’s the smaller more quirkly ones I remember with most fondness.
p.s. the 1989 film Sea of Love is worth a watch – Al Pacino and Ellen Barkin are fantastic actors. Now I think of it Blame it on Rio is one nobody remembers but that’s worth a watch too.

This is really hard. The more I think about it the more films I want to include. The 80′s really was a fantastic time for cinema.
Having initially narrowed my list down to 50!!! I have now decided upon 10 winners…phew, so here goes…
