You Can Not Be Serious!!!

  • Sharebar

With Wimbledon 2011 in full swing our latest forgotten gem of the 80s  is, Chalk Dust – The Umpire Strikes Back by Brat. Reaching Number 19 in the charts in 1982 the track is, some would say, a tribute to the on court antics of John McEnroe . Well kown for his tantrums and verbal attacks on Umpire and Line Judges Mr McEnroe was seen as a Spoilt Brat by many. His Tennis talent however, was never in quetion.

The man behind Brat was Roger Kitter, best known for his role of Captain Alberto Bertorelli in the highly successful BBC comedy Allo Allo. This track is typical of the many ”fun” records released in the 80s. The video of the Top of The Pops performance  is well worth  a watch, as are John McEnroe’s tantrums.
