At sixteen years of age Gary Moore formed Skid Row with Phil Lynott, who left shortly after to form Thin Lizzy. Moore became a full time member of Thin Lizzy in 1978. He left the group in 1979, midway through a U.S. Tour.

Former Lizzy member Eric Bell said, ” He was a superb player and a dedicated musician.”

His greatest 80′s single success was Out in The Fields, reaching number 5 in the U.K. in 1985.

What a shock this was after seeing the Thin Lizzy documentary on the telly recently. The whole band were prolific musicians and what struck me was that they produced over a dozen albums in as many years. Who would do that now… just look at U2, for example!
