Released in 1985, N-N-Nineteen Not Out was a parody of Paul Hardcastles 19 based on England’s 1984 Test Series with The West Indies. Reaching Number 13 in The UK Charts it brought Rory Bremner into the spotlight. The track included impressions of cricket commentators Richie Benaud, Brian Johnston, Jim Laker and Fred Trueman. It mentions the fact that David Gower, the England Captain, averaged only 19 with the bat. Other references include the 1932/33 infamous Bodyline Tour.
Rory Bremner, real name Roderick Keith Ogilvy Bremner, was born on 06th April 1961 in Edinburgh Scotland. The release of N-N-Nineteen Not Out was just part of his comic genius, Spitting Image was also graced with his brillant impressions and by 1987 he has his own BBC2 show entitled Now – Something Else. He has also appeared on Mock The Week, Whose Line is it Anyway and Bremner, Bird and Fortune.
The live performance on Top of The Pops by Rory Bremner is a must watch. The backing singers outfits must be seen to be believed. This track proves that a lot of people had fun making records in the 80s.

Another great article….I had forgotten about this track, but have it on Now 5. Listened to it last night what a laugh…Rory Bremner has stood the test of time. Thank Heavens the Cricket Team have improved since 1984….
