Can you remember where you were on the 29th July 1981. I was 14 at the time and was staying down at my aunts house. I remember that everyone had bunting up in their windows and also going across the roads, from one side of the street to the other . We all crowded round the TV to watch the Royal Wedding and see what Diana Spencers wedding dress looked like. That evening we went to my other aunts house to continue celebrating. That was the first time i drank Rose' wine. I also sported a Lady Diana Spencer haircut back then as well.

Sadly, I was on the pavement directly opposite St Paul's having spent the night there with a group of (almost entirely female) friends from college who all wanted to see it, but didn't want to spend the night there on their own. We met the night before at Garfunkels (Haymarket branch I think) as one of the group was duty manager there and then went straight to St Paul's, finding a place on the pavement up against the wall of a bank to lean against. Didn't get much sleep and then had to get up before 7am to secure a place right at the front against the barrier. We stood there throughout the whole event until they left.

Wow, that must have been brilliant to have been there, to have actually experienced the build up to it and the whole atmosphere fof the day.
