Such a shame, i have a few of their albums, Automatic, Out of Time and Monsters. Michael Stipes has such a distinctive voice.
In 1994 i should have seen them at the Milton Keynes Bowl, but things didnt go quite to plan. we turned up at the Bowl, all in good time, parked the car, and went in past sucurity etc, showing out tks. First supporting act on was Radio Head, which i wasnt exactly fussed about seeing, the next act we should have seen was the Cranberries, but we didnt. We descovered that we"d lost the car keys, we searched pockets, handbags the ground we were sitting on etc, but couldnt find them, so we went to the sucurity to explain that we wanted to check that we hadnt left them in the car. We were told that if we went out of the Bowl, we would not be allowed back in. We took the option to go out to make sure that we hadnt left them in the car, so we only heard the cranberries, and some of REM. The keys werent in the car, and we had to have it towed to a garage and wait for someone to fetch a spare set for us. Luckily someone found the original keys and posted them back to us, as the the keyring had my partners garage details on. I have never considered going to another concert at the Milton Keynes Bowl since, and i"ve never had the chance to see REM since either.
