When we entered the Brighton Centre to find our seats, the support act Cock and Bull Kid were just coming to the end of their set. Once again our seats were in a brilliant position, 5 rows back and directly opposite where John Taylor would be. Its not a very big venue, holds about 4000, which always makes it that much more personal.
This was the first of 11 shows in the Uk, which should have been earlier in the year, but due to Simon Le Bon having Laryngitis, had been rescheduled to now.
When Duran Duran appeared, everyone got to their feet and appauded and there were screams and cheers as the band broke into their first song of the evening, 'Before the Rain', which was then folllowed by 'Planet Earth'.
Simons voice seemed to be stronger than ever and the crowd joined in with the songs, his perfomance was superb, his dancing alway amuses me. The rest of the band were brilliant too, you can see there is real chemistry between them all, Roger Taylors drumming was perfect, every beat stood out. Nick Rhodes on Keyboards, John Taylor on Bass guitar and Dom on guitar.
Anna Ross was brilliant as usual, and sounded fab when she sang the rap for 'Safe'
The stage setting and lighting was fantastic, 3 big screens behind the band which showed different footage from videos etc and also showed the crowd too. Just above our heads were 4 white masks which also showed the band members faces at different times during the show.
There was a couple of little surprises thrown in, like Simon asking for a male member of the audience to go down to the front and help hiim start off a song,The guy that was sat in front of me volunteered, Simon whispered in his ear, and then you heard 'Ta Na Na Na' – which of course is the start of the 'Reflex'.
During Tiger Tiger and also before the show started the screen showed live tweets coming through from Duran Fans all over the globe Another surprise was when they did White Lines, it was amazing and sounded fantastic.
The intro's were done during 'Notorious',
They must have been on stage for a good 2 hours, and played 7 tracks from their latest album 'All You Need Is Now' and 14 other tracks.
The encore was fantastic, they came back on and done 'Wild Boys' leading into FGTHs 'Relax' leading back into 'Wild Boys' again, and then they fininshed off with 'Rio'.
Duran Duran are definately bigger and better than ever, and they totally rocked Brighton.
