Erasure at The Roundhouse
We were lucky enough to be able to see Erasure last night. No mean feat since this was their only London date! As a concert venue, the Roundhouse is perfect. It is small and intimate – we felt we could almost reach out and touch the band on stage. The venue is mostly standing so there was every excuse to dance the night away, and we did! Erasure put on a fantastic show. All the hits were there – “Sometimes”, “Ship of Fools”, “A Little Respect”, “Always” and many more. These were seemlessly played in amongst material from their new album “Tomorrow’s World”. Andy Bell was as flamboyant as ever, prancing around the stage more like a ballet star than pop star! He was of course ably assisted by Vince Clarke, along with two backing singers. The set was completed with an encore of “Oh L’Amore” and “Stop”. Also worth a mention is the support act, Frankmusik. As he said himself, he’s “like a broken jukebox”. He cleverly mixed his original material (which is very good) with old songs that are instantly recognisable. (We’ve since found out that he produced Tomorrow’s World). All in all we had a great night. We wish we could do it all again!! |
