Adam Ant Delivers in The States
Adam Ant Freebird Live Jacksonville Beach, FL USA 25 Sept 2012
By Karen Dutro Last night was a night I have waited 17 years for; Adam Ant
to tour the US again.
For a while it looked as though that would never happen,
but the Man picked himself up,
shook it off and hit the comeback trail with a vengeance. My 64 year old Mother and 18 year old daughter came with me.
Sceptics they are, too. Daughter: "Mom, you brainwashed me all of my life, that's why I'm here.
It can't be all THAT great." Mother: "You tortured me in 1982 with his music, that's why I'm here.
It can't be all THAT great." We arrived early to the venue. There were a few people there waiting. Mom and Katie decided to go eat dinner and I stayed to chat up my fellow antfans. GREAT stories, too! One gentleman had come down on a bus from Atlanta for the show, having missed Music Midtown. He said that other than the birth of his daughter, this was the most exciting night of his life. A young woman from San Diego is attending ALL of the US tour dates. Another woman from the Atlanta area took her vacation to do the Florida tour dates. THIS is the kind of loyalty and dedication the Man inspires in his fans. Adam's opening act is a duo of brothers, Supla and João Suplicy, appropriately named Brothers of Brazil. We really liked them. They were high energy, great musicians and really knew how to warm up a crowd. My mother especially enjoyed their version of Girl From Ipanema. Their sound is a mix of Punk/Bossanova with a little Rockabilly thrown in. Very unusual and fresh. My daughter was totally impressed and purchased one of their cds. I got to speak with Supla after the show while they were signing Katie's cd. VERY nice guy. I HAD to ask him because I just couldn't help myself, How does it feel to be able to tour with such an icon as Adam Ant and support him on his US tour? " It's very exciting. His fans are welcoming and the best. I love it."
I reccomend giving them a listen. The Man Cometh. From the first song, Plastic Surgery, Adam had the crowd in the palm of his hand. With consumate skill, he played us. Adam Ant KNOWS how to capture a crowd and keep them enraptured. I am a people watcher and I watched the crowd from my second story vantage point. They were HIS. They knew it, he knew it and it was magical. When he tore his shirt open during 'Kings of the Wild Frontier' even my mother went, "Ooooooohhhhh." Adam looks great and sounds great. There is no denying that. He is in fine form. However, I HAVE to give credit where credit is due: his band. They are phenomonal. They are well rehearsed, tight and talented. The double drums are a sinful pleasure. The female drummer, Yola, is a force to be reckoned with. It's always enjoyable to see outstanding female musicians. Yola surpasses that, she is AWESOME. My mother was enthralled with Yola as was my daughter. Both raved about her on the way home. Yola, if you read this, you rocked 3 generations of women. YOU GO GIRL. Adam brought the house down with his 4 song encore. Physical (You're So) is his finale and he puts his soul into it. Actually, that may be a bit wrong, Adam Ant puts his soul into every word he sings. Overall, I have to say the entire evening was off the chain. From the opening act to the final song, it was a night I will treasure. Oh yes. My two sceptics. "MOM! It was THAT great!" "HONEY! It was THAT great!"

Fantastic revue of not just Adam but his band and fans who are all incredible.
Adam Ant, as you say, is truly inspirational and in my eyes a real 80′s Legend.
It’s great to hear that your Mum and daughter enjoyed themselves too, showing that Adam Ant and his music is spanning the generations
