Watched Synth Britannia again last week on the Beeb and it came over once again just what a driving force Martin Gore was in the band once Vince Clarke moved on to form Yazoo. Depeche Mode were one of the few 80s new wave bands to break America, of course, playing to huge stadium crowds way in to the 90s and one of the few to break their ‘new romantic’ mould. A truly legendary band of its time!
