Lisa Burke on Favourite summer of the 80s

My favourite summer of the 80s, was 1983, it was the year i left school, and also the summer before i started college. Most of it was spent with my friends, either going into town during the days, or down the prom. The evenings were spent with a big crowd of us outside the KFC in Valley Drive. A few of the lads had motorbikes, which i remember us girls went on the back of down along the sea school road, doing a ton. The rest of the lads had various cars Mark III cortina's, Capri's and Datsuns.

WE also used to go into the Admiral Beatty pub on a friday night for the disco, until we all got chucked out of there one night, after that our favourite pub was the Millers Cottage. My best friends dad belonged to the Rugby club, and we often went there as well for disco,s or just to sit in the lounge bar drinking Cherry Brandys.

I also remember that my best friend and myself went strawberry piciking a few times during that summer, just so as we could earn money to go and buy records, one of mine being Michael Jacksons "Thriller" album.

The one song that always reminds me of that summer is KC and the Sunshine Bands "Give It Up".

To be honest 1983 is probably my favourite year of the 80s, as i have so many good memories of it.

Has anyone else got a favourit summer or year of the 80s?

The station broadcasts on the South Coast, mainly in Dorset (we think) They play a lot of 80s stuff, some of which we haven't heard on the Radio for a while, Landscape - Einstein a Go Go, Vienna, Level 42 and more. Anyone know of any other local Radio Stations flyiny the 80s flag?
