There was always lots of beer and cider, and one person was always designated to be in charge of the music, and the carpet would get rolled back, so no beer got spilt on it, and so as we could dance as well.  No ones neighbours ever seemed to complain either. I went to one party where the girls all dressed as Madonna and the lads were all dressed as Rambo. It was all really good fun.
