A great story, Lisa and it took me down memory lane. It reminded me of the time we used to go to Kensington Market to buy our clothes back when I was a 'New Romantic' - not that me and my mates called ourselves that!

Ken Market, as it was known to us then trendy poseurs, was more or less a flea market showcasing a lot of the up and coming designers. My mate's sister had a stall there and she designed clothes for a lot of the acts back then in the very early 80s including Spandau in their 'Cut a long story short' days before they went stellar! As a result, we were always able to find out where all the bands were playing their 'secret' gigs. Great stuff!

I also remember one time at a gig with my mate's sister at the Lyceum (can't remember who was playing which is a shame!) but as we stood around several stars of the day came up to say hello. I remember Buster Bloodvessel sticking out like a sore thumb amongst all of us in our finery and a long chat with Richard Jobson, of the Skids who went on to become a TV presenter and who founded the Skids with Stuart Adamson who in turn, of course, went on to form Big Country). All great fun!

Halcyon days, indeed!

A relative of mine actually designed and made the clothes for Adam Ant, for one of his performances on Top of the Pops, and then she went on to make several costumes for Modern Romance, such as the suits that they wore, and also the salsa outfits for the song "Everybody Salsa", which was also for a Top of the Pops performance. She said that they were all really nice, and she stayed in touch with Jeff Dean of Modern Romance for quite a while.

She had also done a lot of work with Zandra Rhodes, whom was quite famous for her outrageous looks during the 1980s
