I have several boxes of vinyl in the loft.....the problem is that it is so easy with a CD...flicking from track to track without having to lift a needle and then clumbsily missing the gap on the vinyl as you bring it to rest..

I agree there was nothing like rushing to the shops on a Saturday and buying your new 49p single. I also miss the surprise of the B side, you never knew what it would be like, mostly awful but the occasional gem....

I used to love the sound of crackling at the start of a vinyl record, or the fact that if it jumped, it always did it in the same place. My Thompson Twins "Quick Step and Side Kick" Lp, always use to jump in exactly the same place everytime i played it, it was on the track "Tears". I used to tell my mum off for walking too heavy footed into the lounge, because it would make a record jump, and was really annoying especially if i was trying to record it on to a cassette. There was nothing better than flicking thru all the 12" versions in the local Record shop, which used to be "OK Records."at the time. I must have at least 80 12" records in my collection and all from the early 80s.

Altho i do love my CDs, i dont think you can ever beat that feeling of buying a vinyl record, and rushing home to play it for the first time.
