There are two rockumentaries about the ubiquitous 80s record label Stiff that brought us many an indie artist such as Ian Dury and the Blockheads, The Damned, Elvis Costello and Madness to name but a few! Catch them this weekend tucked away at just after midnight on Saturday night on BBC4 and see how Stiff set the trend where others could only follow! The first documentary is a special featuring Stiff artists on Top of the Pops and the second an in-depth look at the founding of Stiff Records and how it went on to become a mainstream label in the 80s! It doesn’t get much better than this! Enjoy

From Madonna in Into the Groove to the Flock of Seagulls, it was an iconic decade for hair. Here’s my Top10:

1. Madonna – Into the Groove which spurned so many look-a-likes

2. Phil Oakey – THE look in the clubs

3. Annie Lennox – the original ‘sister’. In orange in Touch

British actor Johnny Lee Miller, of Trainspotting and Angelina Jolie ex-hubby fame, finally goes stateside in a TV comedy drama with a heart. He’s hard-bitten lawyer Eli Stone who starts to have visions and here’s the 80′s Music link ~ he’s having nuptials in the bedroom when he hears music from the other room. When he goes into his living room there is George Michael in full swing, complete with backing singers and dancers, singing ‘Faith’ – right there in front of him. It’s an epiphany – okay it’s a brain aneurysm really – that changes his life and after a number of similarly surreal visions starts to see life differently. It’s already in Season 2 in the States now but Season 1 comes to the UK and FIVER next week, starting Wednesday. One for those who like their Boston Legal mixed with an Ally McBeal twist!
